The party sailed from Tilbury on SS Omrah on 27th September. His only success with the bat was the 87 he made in 57 minutes in a stand of 109 with W.G.Quaife. This was in the second match against New South Wales. His fielding was outstanding and was remarked upon in newspaper reports throughout the tour. He played in all 5 Tests but did not enjoy much success with bat or ball. On the return journey in March, his mind was taken off seasickness when he met and fell in love with a fellow passenger, Millicent Annie Osborne of New South Wales.
