Jessop was second in the County’s batting averages and third in the bowling list. Jessop became a member of MCC and remained so for the rest of his life. In the match against Sussex, at Hove, Jessop summoned up all his previous speed. He unnerved the batsmen while dismissing C.B.Fry, K.O.Goldie and K.S.Ranjitsinhji in two overs while the score remained on 37. During the first afternoon at Trent Bridge, the temperature reached 80ºF and all the Gloucestershire fielders wore sun hats. Against Sussex, at Bristol, Gloucestershire were asked to follow on 230 behind. Jessop scored all 66 runs in a second wicket stand with R.W.Rice. He hit one six and 10 fours in 28 minutes off 22 of the 37 balls he faced. For the Rest of England v Yorkshire, Jessop scored his first double century, 233 out of 318 in 150 minutes with 33 fours. He put on 204 in 90 minutes for the 4th wicket with C.B.Fry. At stumps on the first day he had made 176* in 2 hours.
