In nine consecutive innings between 23rd May and 9th June he took forty-eight wickets for 429 runs, and between 22nd July and 7th August he took forty-nine in the same number of innings, including seventeen wickets for 56 runs against Essex at Gloucester’s Tuffley Avenue ground. He bowled an enormous number of overs, nearly 1,500 in all matches. He played for the Players against the Gentlemen at Folkestone and for the Rest of England against the Champion County, Yorkshire. With the bat he hit 504 runs at an average of 12 including an innings of 56 against Essex at Leyton, and he held twenty-six catches. Own Team O M R W Opp Ct Total Total 317.
