He had a wonderful season for Gloucestershire taking 195 wickets in Championship matches at the remarkably low average of 13.17. He took five wickets in an innings twenty-one times and ten wickets in a match on nine occasions. Twice, against Derbyshire and Yorkshire, he took nine wickets in an innings but Gloucestershire’s batting failed to support him and both matches were lost. He had a fine all-round match against Somerset at Taunton scoring 77 and 17 and taking 5 for 68 and 6 for 71. His batting brought him 524 runs in all matches at an average of 12.47 and he took four catches. Own Team O M R W Opp Ct Total Total 213.
