He had one great match against Somerset at Bristol in August when he had analyses of 8 for 48 and 4 for 96 but Wisden describes his form for the season as a whole as “moderate”. Dennett took forty-seven more wickets than Parker although he did bowl in seven more innings. In one of the rare dry summers, pitches seldom suited either bowler.
