1904/05 - Lord Brackley’s Team in the West Indies The pitches in the West Indies suited Wynyard admirably and he headed the batting averages for Lord Brackley’s team. Although he began the tour with a duck he soon struck form, his 157 in the second match against Jamaica setting up a huge win for the tourists. Wynyard and Lord Brackley (34) started with 129 for the first wicket, then Ernie Hayes (76) shared in a second wicket stand of 134. Wynyard’s 157 took three hours 30 minutes and included a six, a five and 15 fours. Wynyard and Hayes (100*) continued their form by putting on 121 for the third wicket against Barbados. Another important century by Wynyard secured victory in the unofficial Test in Barbados and Trinidad was the only centre in which he failed to make runs though he did hit 46 in a minor match there.
