His best score was only 80 but he topped 20 on 16 occasions out of 22 innings and he again led Hampshire to a respectable ninth Championship place. Wynyard and Victor Barton (125) made 112 for the second wicket against Yorkshire and his 80 came in a fourth wicket partnership of 130 with Barton (81) versus Somerset. Against Leicestershire at Southampton he returned his best bowling to date with 4/47 in 21 overs.
