He played a fine innings of 61 (8 fours, 2 threes and 5 twos) against Surrey at Kennington Oval, a performance even more commendable as Hampshire were facing a Surrey total of 650. He and Arthur Wood (58) added exactly 100 for the fifth wicket. This season also saw Wynyard’s first bowling spells in first-class matches and against Sussex at Hove he captured his first wicket when his victimwas Billy Newham.
