New Zealand won both these games, beating the Australians by just one run in a thrilling encounter. However, at Hobart, despite Hadlee scoring 52 from 68 balls and taking two economical wickets, New Zealand lost this match to Sri Lanka but still qualified for the finals only to be well beaten by Australia. 128
