ABOUT THE AUTHOR Nigel Hart was a man of diverse intellectual interests: politics, sociology, literature, religion, and philosophy as well as cricket. An educational administrator at the University of South Australia he taught courses as varied as classical studies, communications, and romantic and detective fiction. Although born in Harrow, and migrating to Australia in his teens, he thought of himself as an honorary Yorkshireman and was a member of the Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Leeds United Football Club for around thirty years. At twenty he became an Australian television quiz champion in the category of Test cricket and subsequently co-authored three books with Bernard Whimpress: Adelaide Oval Test Cricket Centenary 1884-1984 , Test Eleven and Australian Eleven . Married with three daughters Nigel died, aged 48, in 1997.. Bernard Whimpress has written several other books, apart from those with Nigel, including Passport to Nowhere: Aborigines in Australian Cricket 1850-1939 . He is the publisher/editor of the Australian cricket journal, Baggy Green , and a regular contributor to Cricket Lore .
