He was the fifteenth player to achieve the feat. Crawford gained numerous five wicket hauls, particularly early in the season when he was in devastating form on his home ground at The Oval with match figures of 11-66 against Essex and 11-63 against Sussex. His best innings performance was 7-60 in a match Surrey lost to Kent at Blackheath. He finished second in both the bowling aggregates and averages for his county. With the bat Crawford was a regular contributor although his sole century did not come until the third last game against Kent. Called up for two Test matches against South Africa he did little with the bat, succumbing to the googly attack of Schwarz and Vogler, and made no impression in the few overs allotted to him.
