1860 A warm up game for Surrey Club against Southgate on May 21-22 saw Haygarth score 36 in the first innings and 15 in the second and he top scored in both innings. There were three other matches and his run tally, in what turned out to be his penultimate season, was 232 at 12.89 per innings. He had spectacular success with underhand lobs against Sussex on June 4-5 when he and James Grundy bowled unchanged in both Sussex innings to win the match comfortably by an innings.
