Swanton’s XI Commonwealth Tour In the spring of 1964, Ramadhin participated in a tour of the Far East by a Commonwealth team organized by E.W.Swanton and led by A.C.D.Ingleby-Mackenzie, the captain of Hampshire. They played several games at places like Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Singapore. Ramadhin performed in seven of these matches and captured 39 wickets (ave 10.69). The only first-class match was played at Calcutta in April against an Indian XI. The other West Indians, Seymour Nurse (106 & 135*) and Gary Sobers (123 & 7*) distinguished themselves, but Ramadhin did not. He scored 8 runs and took no wickets. But the Swanton XI emerged victorious. Own Team O M R W Opp Ct Total Total 151. E.W.
