The emergence of Roy Gilchrist and Wesley Hall, two of the world’s fastest bowlers, meant that the West Indies no longer had to depend on an attack based primarily on spin. With Basil Butcher, Rohan Kanhai, Gary Sobers and Joseph Solomon batting splendidly, the West Indies won the Test series 3-0. Ramadhin took part in only two of the five Tests against India, registering a mere 2/91 from his 44.5 overs. Against Pakistan, where the West Indies lost two Tests on the dreaded ‘mat’, Ramadhin performed somewhat better, claiming 9/121 in two of the three Tests. His additional 11 Test wickets lifted his total to 138, a new West Indian record. Altogether he played in 13 first-class matches during this tour of the sub-continent and took 41 wickets at an average cost of 15.53 runs each. Although his form in the Tests was spotty, he bowled with much greater success in other matches. The continuing improvement of his batting was reflected in a first-class average of 14.80 runs per innings during the tour. Own Team O M R W Opp Ct Total Total 118.
