He represented the Commonwealth against an England XI at Kingston-upon-Thames in August and at Hastings in September. Once again, he mystified the local batsmen, taking 3/29 from 21 overs, and only rain saved the hosts from certain defeat in the first encounter. At Hastings, Ramadhin was even more effective, claiming 7/21 from 17 overs and restricting an England XI to a first innings total of 105. He played the major role in the Commonwealth triumph in two days by finishing with a match analysis of 41-13-61-11. He was ably supported by George Tribe who claimed the remaining 9 wickets for 91 runs. Own Team O M R W Opp Ct Total Total 44. They disappointed their supporters, however, by losing the Test series 1-4 and winning only 2 of their 13 first-class matches in Australia. Ramadhin bowled extremely well at the start of the campaign but too many chances were missed off his bowling and he appeared somewhat jaded towards the end because he had been unnecessarily overworked at the beginning. In 8 matches in Australia, Ramadhin captured only 22 wickets at a cost of 42.18 runs apiece. Like his colleagues, he fared considerably better in New Zealand, where, in only 4 first-class games, he took 24 wickets at an average cost of 14.41 runs each. In Australia, after the Brisbane Test, Ramadhin appeared stymied by the harder surfaces and the willingness of the batsmen to use their feet. In 5 Tests there, his 14 wickets cost almost 50 runs apiece, but he paid only 13.83 runs each for his 12 wickets in the two Tests against New Zealand. The West Indies, in fact, were badly let down by 16
