1976 Injuries to his hand and then his back meant that Boycott played in only twelve first-class matches, although he still managed to score 1288 runs at an average of 67.78 with five hundreds. He began the season with an unbeaten 161 against Gloucestershire, adding 264 for the first wicket with Lumb. Once again Cambridge University were put to the sword, this time with unbeaten scores of 207 and 41. He added 243 for the second wicket with Jim Love ,whilst making 141 against Nottinghamshire. Not out scores of 156 against Glamorgan and 103 against Lancashire helped Yorkshire to victories in both matches.
