Famous Cricketers No 66 - Wilfred Rhodes

1921 The all-conquering Australians arrived this year, captained by probably the largest man ever to captain a Test nation - W.W.Armstrong. Although he played in the First Test, Rhodes was dropped for the rest of the series, as England proceeded to try as many as thirty different players. Australia won the series three to nil which surprised nobody. This was Rhodes’ last Test until he was recalled five years later. Once more he did the ‘double’ and also made his highest ever score, 267 not out against Leicestershire at Headingley. He took 7-80 in the ‘Roses’ match at Old Trafford in May but did not take more than nine wickets in any match. Own Team O M R W Opp Ct Total Total 757.
