Three men were head and shoulders above all others in the Yorkshire team, Hirst, Haigh and Rhodes taking 359 wickets between them. Rhodes was much more the bowler of earlier days but although he bowled consistently well in the early part of the season the Test honours went to Colin Blythe who played in all three matches. The South Africans with their plethora of ‘googly’ bowlers failed to live up to their form in South Africa in 1905/06 and had a disappointing Test series, although their county form was excellent. With 1055 runs and 177 wickets Rhodes once more completed the ‘double’ and his best match aggregate was 12-130 against Somerset at Taunton 47
