The summer was dominated by the Australians under Joe Darling and Rhodes played in all five Test matches including the Oval game where he and George Hirst scored the fifteen runs for the tenth wicket to win the game. He took 22 wickets in the series at an average of 15.27, having a best performance of 7-17 in the First Test at Edgbaston where he and Hirst dismissed Australia for 36 in less than one and a half hours - their lowest score in all Test matches up to this day. On the county circuit he was devastating once more. In mid July he took 12-195 against Essex again at Bradford. Gloucestershire suffered at Leeds two matches later, 12-58 in 29 overs, and he got Jessop once again and in the return at Cheltenham three weeks later 10-60 (Jessop twice). After this he was below his best and had no other really outstanding analysis but his reputation was intact. Own Team O M R W Opp Ct Total Total 140.
