At the age of forty-seven it would seem it was more of a struggle to keep up his form consistently. Even so, although his wicket aggregate fell to 57, the lowest since 1912, and for the first time in his career he failed to take five wickets in an innings, his batting continued to flourish and he made over a thousand runs for the twentieth time hitting two centuries. His 157 against Derbyshire at Headingley came at an opportune time, Yorkshire being four wickets down for not very many when he and Kilner put on 170 for the fifth wicket. His other century was 108* against Glamorgan at Huddersfield. Own Team O M R W Opp Ct Total Total 907. Yorkshire v Glamorgan, Cardiff, May 6, (7), (8) (Match drawn) did not bat - 134-1 908.
