The first post-war tourists were the Indians, led by former Worcestershire and England cricketer, the Nawab of Pataudi. There were several extremely talented players in the side, as in addition to Pataudi himself, there were also Vijay Merchant, “Vinoo” Mankad, Vijay Hazare, Lala Amarnath and Abdul Hafeez, who later as A.H.Kardar was to become Pakistan’s first Test captain after partition.
