Famous Cricketers No 63 - A.O.Jones
Arthur Owen was recognised as an authority on fielding and was happy to put his thoughts into print. In Cricket Of Today he laments the current state of fielding and lists the causes. He says that few cricketers are prepared to practise their fielding. Their attention to batting and bowling skills are woeful enough, but their attempts to improve their catching and throwing abilities are almost non-existent. He blames captains for not choosing the right people to field close to the wicket, or placing natural slip fielders in front of the stumps. He says that successful bowlers do not see the need to field well. Own Team O M R W Opp Ct Total Total 201.
