This barren patch before the First Test saw him demoted to twelfth man and he vowed “They’ll never leave me out again, I’m going to see to that”. He then scored 126 against Kent and came back in for the Second Test to replace the injured G.Pullar. England won the series with Barrington scoring fifties at Trent Bridge and Old Trafford. Over the season, he scored 1878 runs at an average of 42.68 despite making only two centuries. Own Team O M R W Opp Ct Total Total 222.
