Famous Cricketers No 61 - Wes Hall

PREFACE This monograph would not at all have been possible without the encouragement and co-operation of such ACS members as Messrs. Don Ambrose, Kit Bartlett, Peter Griffiths and Peter Wynne-Thomas. Mr. Wynne-Thomas was especially helpful in supplying the missing details for about eight of Hall’s first-class matches and Don Ambrose, as usual, did not hesitate to provide the details of Hall’s cricket in the Lancashire League. This study has also profited enormously from the published works of Ms. Bridgette Lawrence and Messrs. Ray Goble, Jimmy Richards, Philip Thorn and Mervyn Wong. A significant debt is owed, too, to such Barbadian cricket historians and enthusiasts as Professor Hilary Beckles, Sir Carlisle Burton and Messrs. Charles Alleyne, Ronald Hughes and Patrick Lashley. To all of these writers and supporters I offer my sincerest thanks. Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada, January 2001 3
