Of some interest, however, is the fact that, in Salisbury, he was run out for the first time in his first-class career. Own Team O M R W Opp Ct Total Total 68. Queensland fell from second to fifth in the standings and Hall captured only 33 wickets rather expensively. He failed to take 5 wickets in any one innings and conceded his most runs in a single innings to date (1/158) against the MCC at Brisbane in November. But he did produce a few useful performances with the bat and achieved his best score for the state (50) in his very last match. In his 69th game and 84th innings (against New South Wales at Brisbane in late October) he finally reached 1,000 runs in first-class cricket. Ironically, in his very next match, also at Brisbane, he bagged his first ‘pair of spectacles’ (against Western Australia). He had the last laugh, however, as it was his own bowling (7/131) that contributed vitally to Queensland’s victory in this encounter. Own Team O M R W Opp Ct Total Total 69.
