Famous Cricketers No 60 - Ernest Tyldesley
Bowling O M R W BB Avge County Championship 3 0 16 0 - - 1911 Tyldesley’s season fell into two distinct phases. During the early part (until the end of June) he played as a stand-in for various players and met with little success; indeed in nine innings his best effort was 33. Then, returning in August, he put together three scores of over 70, including an impressive innings of 71 in over two hours against Warwickshire, the eventual County Champions. When scoring 74 against Hampshire in the final match he not only surpassed his previous best but rescued his side from 38 for 3 by sharing in a fourth wicket stand of 178 in two and a half hours with Jack Sharp who amassed 184 not out.
