His most notable performances in these games was an undefeated 84 in the second innings against the Players and figures of 4/36 in the MCC first innings. His batting saved the Gentlemen from defeat, when, facing a target of 324, they were reduced to 19/4, Faulkner playing aggressively to ensure a draw.
