1965 In 1965 Bailey fell only three wickets short of completing his ninth Double. He scored 1026 runs at an average of 25.65 and took 97 wickets at 19.76. He had the remarkable figuers of five wickets for three runs in seven overs and two balls at Fenner’s against Cambridge University. He also took five wickets or more in an innings against Worcestershire at New Road, Sussex at Brentwood and Yorkshire at Bradford where he was largely instrumental in dismissing the Yorkshiremen for 75 in their first innings. He scored five half centuries with a highest score of 91 against Glamorgan at Leyton. He was selected to play for T.N.Pearce’s XI against the touring South Africans at Scarborough, his one representative game of the season.
