The acrimony of the previous year was no longer there and he had the opportunity to play almost a complete Shield season. Although he was only a minor performer for his State, Victoria won the Sheffield Shield yet again. He received a finger injury whilst fielding against South Australia in the first innings which meant he batted at No. 7 in the second innings. Captaining his own team in the Blackie-Ironmonger benefit match, Woodfull scored a chanceless 118 to top score for the match. Several days later he played in the Andrews-Collins-Kelleway benefit match and scored 129 to again top score. Relishing the freedom of matches against Tasmania for the touring Australian XI, Woodfull scored 126 “with his last 76 taking an uncharacteristic 57 minutes”. He repeated the dose several days later, this time scoring 124 in 138 minutes. Woodfull finished second in the VCA’s District batting averages, scoring 317 runs at 158.50.
