He played in all Gloucestershire’s zonal games in the Benson and Hedges Cup scoring 61 runs at an average of 15.25 and he appeared in four of the John Player League games scoring 49 runs at an average of 16.33. His highest score in any of the competitions was only 38 and, for him, it was a most disappointing season although for Gloucestershire it was successful as the county won the Gillette Cup for the first time at Lord’s in September.
