He made no centuries, his highest score being 90 against Nottinghamshire at Gloucester but his presence and his experience at the age of 43, added strength and stability to the Gloucestershire batting. He finished second in the averages behind Mike Procter. In the Gillette Cup he made one appearance scoring 17 and taking two catches against Surrey in a 15-run victory in the third round. He played in two John Player League matches scoring 102 runs with a top score of 74 not out against Middlesex at Lord’s.
