His aggregate fell to 1,310 runs at an average of 33.58. Included in this were four centuries notably his fiftieth in first-class cricket, an innings of 155 against the touring Australians at Bristol. He finished third in the Gloucestershire averages behind Harold Jarman, who played in only three matches, and David Green, a new opener from Lancashire who shared the opening batsmens duties with Milton and Nicholls. Milton’s other centuries were against Somerset, Surrey and Sussex. He played for M.C.C. against Surrey at Lord’s, the first time since 1962 that he had appeared in a representative fixture. His fielding haul was his lowest in years, only twelve catches, three of them for M.C.C. and just nine in 23 fixtures for Gloucestershire. In the Gillette Cup Gloucestershire reached the semi-final stage for the first time, beating the holders, Kent, in a low scoring match at Bristol and defeating Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge by 25 runs with Milton scoring 87 and taking two catches. They were beaten by 19 runs in the semi-final against Sussex at Hove. Own Team O M R W Opp Ct Total Total 518.
