Milton played in 26 County Championship games and four other Gloucestershire fixtures as well as appearing for M.C.C. against Surrey at Lord’s and for an England XI against the South Africans and a Commonwealth XI as part of the Hastings Festival. He made 1,821 runs at an average of 29.37, scoring two centuries, a match winning effort of 150 against Worcestershire at Gloucester and 138 against Somerset at Taunton. As always he thrived in adversity. Witness his 85 out of 166 all out against Kent at Gloucester, and 51 not out, out of 117 all out, against Lancashire at Bristol. He did not 19
