The Playfair Cricket Annual , waxing quite lyrical, said: “Milton advanced surely along his primrose path with an urbanity and a cultured ease that belied his toughness in adversity”. He made hundreds against Kent at Bristol, Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge and Sussex at Hove and also made a splendid 83 not out against Glamorgan at Ebbw Vale to give Gloucestershire an easy victory after 30 wickets had fallen for 19 runs each.
