He played in 25 games in the Championship and also played against the touring South Africans and home and away against Oxford Univeristy. He made more than 1,500 runs at an average of 39.35 and scored his first two centuries, both against Somerset. He was to make something of a habit of scoring centuries against Somerset. He took 13 wickets and held 22 catches. In the latter part of the season he moved up to open the innings with George Emmett following an injury to Martin Young. He shared with Emmett in three century opening partnerships, including one of 193 against Somerset at Bristol. The Cricketer noted about his performances:- “Cool and correct, Milton’s batting has about it an unmistakable air of class”. Other noteworthy performances included an unbroken stand of 158 with Jack Crapp to save the match against Hampshire at Gloucester, and an innings of 55 also at Gloucester against Surrey, resisting Lock and Laker in conditions helping them. In addition he made another six fifties, invariably when the side needed them most. Own Team O M R W Opp Ct Total Total 60.
