He was back in favour for the Second Test, and made what was to be his highest Test score of 66 in the first innings, together with his best innings bowling against Australia of five for 35. Keeping his place for the rest of the series, history was made in the Fifth Test, when he delivered 81 overs in the first innings - a test even of his tremendous stamina. By agreement, six ball overs were used in the Test matches only this season, whereas the norm in Australia was eight balls. Geary achieved very little outside the Tests.
