Consequently his wicket aggregate was reduced, but, without recording any sensational performances, he bowled consistently and economically. His best analysis was six for 18 against Derbyshire. A monumental effort of five for 59 off 46.3 overs helped Leicestershire to draw with Lancashire late in the season, but the points gained by Lancashire from this match were sufficient to secure the Championship. Geary batted well, finishing with an average of 29. A spell of four innings in three consecutive matches brought 329 runs, including two nineties, at the beginning of August - he had recorded a pair in the previous game!
