1978/79 – West Indies in India and Sri Lanka After one first-class match, Marshall was selected to tour the sub-continent with the full West Indies side who were lacking Lloyd, Richards, Roberts, Holding and others. He scored his first half-century v West Zone and took 13 wickets in the first three matches winning a place in the first Test. As on his first-class debut, he was dismissed without scoring although he always protested the decision and the Indians’ behaviour. He took just three wickets in his first three Test matches.
