England won the first Test at Leeds and the series was contested keenly, ending 2-2. Marshall’s best performance was in the fourth Test at Birmingham which West Indies won. His Test career finished with 376 wickets in 81 matches at an average only just over 20. Just over one third of those wickets were Englishmen.
