That was made even more remarkable by the fact that this was his benefit year. He became only the third Glamorgan player to reach 1,000 first-class wickets, and took his 1,000th wicket for Glamorgan against Leicestershire in August. In his benefit match he hit 66 in 48 minutes, putting on 98 for the tenth wicket. The benefit brought in £3,200. 31
