The series was dogged by the “throwing” controversy involving Meckiff of Australia with counter allegations against Lock. During the Second Test match, Evans chipped a bone whilst batting in a mix up in a run out situation with Peter May. He missed the Third Test but came back for the Fourth. During this match, diving down the legside to stop a wide ball from Tyson he badly chipped a finger. Although he batted in both innings, Graveney took over the gloves for the Australian second innings. Evans subsequently missed the last Test match and the tour to New Zealand when R.Swetman kept wicket. Own Team Victim Ct St Byes Opp Score Total Total 423.
