Not surprisingly, this was to be Evans’ best batting season, scoring 1613 runs of which 1241 were for Kent, including two centuries with his 144 against Somerset being the highest score of his career. He regained his place in the Test team against India and in the Lord’s Test scored 98 runs before lunch, completing his century just after the interval. During this season he reached 100 dismissals in Test cricket. 26
