Famous Cricketers No 41 - T.G.Evans, C.B.E.

1950/51 - M.C.C. in Australia and New Zealand This was the fourth overseas tour for Evans, and the second to Australia where he was brought on to the tour selection committee under the captaincy of F.R.Brown. The Brisbane Test was badly affected by rainstorms but England should have won. They also had a great chance of victory in the Second Test but lost by 28 runs. In hindsight, the wrong team was originally selected and only the final Test was won. However, Evans enlarged and extended his reputation as a world class wicket-keeper.
