He received the MBE for his services to cricket in 1963 and was made a life member of the New South Wales Cricket Association on the 21st October 1963. In 1978 he was appointed General Manager of the New South Wales Sports Store in Sydney which had been founded in 1928 by Alan Kippax. He made regular visits to England, made several appearances at The Oval against Old England during the Eighties and when he attended Scarborough for the Centenary Festival in 1986 with his old Test colleague Ray Lindwall he still proved popular with the English cricketing public. 42
