On his return to Australia he appeared on a television show to talk about cricket and his future; he mentioned the fact that he was looking for better employment but got no response in Melbourne. The show was repeated in Sydney and he was approached by a Sydney firm, John Dynon and Sons, with the offer of a sales supervisor’s job. He moved to Sydney in mid-1958.
