In Victoria’s first Shield match of the season at Melbourne against Queensland he was joined by the fourth brother to play first-class cricket when Clarence replaced C.C.McDonald who had an injured wrist. The only time he revealed his true form was in the Shield match at Sydney where on a grassy pitch there was some bad batting by both sides. K.R.Miller played a superb innings of 99 and Harvey hit two seventies, 72 in 124 minutes with 2 fours in the first innings and 75 in 120 minutes with 6 fours in the second. Harvey’s highest innings of the season was played in the Testimonial game for A.F.Kippax and W.A.S.Oldfield at Sydney which was also used as a trial for the candidates for the South African tour 8
