Until “Wally” Hardinge had a purple patch late season, and a damaged thumb ended his own season, Woolley was clearly the best bat in the side. Moreover, when the wickets suited them, he and Blythe were clearly the deadliest bowling partnership in the land. This was seen to no better effect than against Warwickshire on the Angel Ground, Tonbridge, where the visitors were bowled out on a difficult wicket in 45 minutes for just 16. On that same wicket Woolley then proceeded to score 76 in 80 minutes to ensure victory. Own Team O M R W Opp Ct Total Total 228.
