He played in all five Tests and managed two scores of fifty. He appeared in only fifteen of Middlesex’s Championship games in which they finished fifth in the County table. Denis played a particularly remarkable innings for Middlesex versus Surrey at Kennington Oval in which he hit 63 out of 77 in fifty minutes with two sixes and six fours.
