He scored his first double century in England at Fenner’s in early June and after his lean spell had ended went on to hit a total of five centuries including 103 in the second Test Trial at Canterbury. He hit a magnificent 235 for Middlesex against Surrey at Lord’s during which he and W.J.Edrich added 296 runs in three and three-quarter hours and in which the former hit twenty-one fours including four in succession off A.R.Gover.
