With the ball, he frequently created havoc amongst the opposition batsmen and claimed career best figures of 9 for 47 against Gloucestershire at Bristol in July - including the fifth hat-trick of his career (all within the space of two years). With the bat, Wright was frequently seen to good effect and he compiled three half-centuries which included a career best 84 not out (two sixes and nine fours) against Hampshire at Southampton in May. It came as little surprise when Wisden selected him as one of their ‘Cricketers of the Year’. Own Team O M R W Opp Ct Total Total 130.
